Dealing with Crohn’s disease can be a stressful situation for some patients. Individuals with the condition can seek counseling or go to family or friends for support.
Crohn’s is an inflammatory bowel disease that is a lifelong process. For some patients dealing with Crohn’s disease they may not have it as bad as other patients.
The individiuals that deal with Crohn’s disease will experience symptoms if the disease starts flaring up again. These symptoms include:
- severe belly ache
- fever or chills
- feeling faint or abnormal pulse
- constant vomiting
Experiencing constant diarrehea and abdominal pain may be the first signs of someone that may have Crohns. Weight loss is a common symptom too.
There are various treatments for the condition, but a lot depends on the severity of the disease and the patient.
Medicine is the most common treatment for Crohn’s. If the patient has developed mild symptoms they may take over the counter medicine to help control the diarrhea, after a consulting with their doctor. The prescription medicine that is prescribed helps to control the inflammation in the digestive tract which helps decrease the symptoms. These medicines also helps repair the damaged tissue caused by the disease.
Stronger treatment may be needed for severe cases, if the prescribed medicine doesn’t help. Surgery may be needed or stronger medicine through an IV or injection may help.
The steps that a sufferer needs to take to help cope with the disease and feeling better is by taking any prescribed medicine as the doctor has instructed, eat healthy, exercise, don’t smoke, and plan a daily diet that consists of high-calorie, and high- protein foods will help gain the nutrients needed.
This disease consists of parts of the digestive system that develops inflammation and ulcers. The most usual parts of the digestive system that develop this condition is found in the first section of the large intestine and the ending part of the small intestine, but it can develop anywhere inside the digestive tract. This causes the digestive tract to absorb any nutrients from food. That is why a good diet plan should be in session once diagnosed.
The cause of Crohn’s is unknown, but some doctors say it is genetic and that smoking will put you at a greater risk of developing the disease.
There is no cure at this time for Crohn’s disease, but with the research of medicine there is hope for the future.
